The Siam Garden has been around for a long time, and I used to go quite regularly, however I think its been almost ten years since I was last there. My avoidance was never intentional, but with the increasing and improving restaurant scene in Liverpool my attention was drawn elsewhere. The Siam Garden always offered very good and fresh traditional Thai food andIi don’t remember having a bad meal there. Thus as we took our seats at 7:30 on a Saturday evening, surrounded by empty tables, I was hoping the lack of other diners was not representative of the meal to come.
I’m very pleased to say that our meal was very good, the menu hasn’t changes much, or at all, over the last ten years, but that doesn’t detract from the quality. Out stuffed chicken wing where tasty and interesting and out mains of a duck red curry and whole grilled fish were both very good. This was (I believe) the first and only Thai restaurant in Liverpool for some time, It isn’t any more, but its still arguably the best. Chaophraya in town seems to draw flocks of people yet the food isn’t comparable to the Siam Garden. I’ll make sure that it isn’t another ten years until my next visit.
